Founded by husband-and-wife duo Onkit Wong and Nicky Chau in 2012, ANCHORET is a fashion select shop offering designer goods from the likes of MARTINE ROSE, LEMAIRE, ENGINEERED GARMENTS, MAISON MARGIELA, BORIS BIDJAN SABERI and FEAR OF GOD. Having opened their first store in Beijing’s Sanlitun district, the duo decided to open their second store in Hong Kong, the city that shaped them and led them to start their business in fashion retailing. But this time around, it’s a little bit different than their Beijing’s store; the shop follows a clothing-boutique-meets-coffee-house concept.

Their newly opened boutique is a three-story building located on Second Street in Sai Ying Pun. The ground floor displays a significant welcome sign with “歡迎光臨” written in ancient Chinese calligraphy style shining in neon light high behind the café bar. The second floor serves as a gathering place; sofas fill half of the space while the rest of the area displays magazines and homeware. According to Nicky, the second floor also serves as a buffering area between the ground floor and the third floor, as the ceiling height there is the lowest of the three floors. Finally, the boutique occupies the third floor, where you’ll find a Margiela-inspired ceiling chandelier wrapped in gauze, and closet racks showcasing the seasonal offerings from the featured brands.
