LEGO has just unveiled its latest real-world racecar-based model. This time around, the Danish company has gone with one of the toughest endurance racers of the current era, the Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51”. The GTE  model is dominant in endurance racing worldwide, and the Italian AF Corse race team, of which this model is based, is a regular winner of the Le Mans GTE class.

The LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” 42125 model kit continues the 15-year partnership between LEGO and the automaker, but this is the very first time that a Ferrari being designed as a LEGO Technic model, taking the advantage of the series’ unique engineering level and bricks. The endurance racer model is crafted from 1,677 pieces and measures 48cm long, 21cm wide, and 13cm tall when completed.

As with other LEGO Technic kits, the 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” is all about encapsulating the same racing spirit and features as its real-life counterpart. Distinctive details include front and rear suspension, a V8 engine with moving pistons and a steering wheel that can steer the car. The opening doors and bonnet allow exploring of the details packed inside, while the authentic Tricolore paint job and race livery add the perfect finish to the model car. In addition to a complete building guide, the instruction manual also shares details about the car and the AF Corse 51 team.

The LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” is priced at US$299.99 and will be available from 1 January 2021.
