Electrifying return
Jaguar I-TYPE 1

After an absence of over a decade, Jaguar along with sponsor Panasonic has returned to top-level global motorsport with the reveal of their first all-electric racing car, the I-TYPE 1. The Panasonic Jaguar Racing team will debut their new cars in Hong Kong on 9 October as the city kicks off the first event of the third FIA Formula E season.

Panasonic and Jaguar, along with additional team partner Lear Corporation, have pledged to devote the entire season to pushing the boundaries of electric technology in a performance environment. Experienced racer Adam Carroll and newcomer Mitch Evans will lead the I-Type-1 charge to the front while Ho-Pin Tung serves as reserve driver.

Jaguar’s participation signifies a new level of corporate involvement in Formula E and something we feel will help the sport quickly redefine its depth and competitiveness.

“As the first premium car manufacturer in Formula E,” said Panasonic Jaguar Racing chairman Gerd Mäuser, we are proud to be back in top-level motorsport. The future is changing, and we’re part of that change. We can’t wait to begin racing competitively in inner city locations inspiring a whole new generation of Jaguar Racing fans to join us on this exciting journey. Formula E is the perfect platform to inspire the next generation.”
