Double Replication
1955 Lincoln Futura Replica

The Lincoln Futura concept car was first seen by public in 1955. Its double clear-plastic canopy top, hooded headlight pods and large tailfins were rarely seen on other vehicle back then. After being given a red body and had a few cameos in movie, it was sold to George Barris and converted into  the Batmobile for the Batman TV series in 1966.

Mark Racop is an avid Batman fan, so much that he has a company Fiberglass Freaks which produces and converts officially licensed 1966 Batmobile replicas. One of his current client is American ventriloquist and comedian Jeffrey Dunham, but instead of a Batmobile, Dunham brought in a red Lincoln Futura replica re-skinned from a Batmobile replica built by Bob Butts in the 1990s for TV show Viper. Dunham’s request was to turn it into a fully accurate replica of the original 1955 Lincoln Futura since what he had on hand was just meant to look good on TV.

The conversion is still going on after a few years as Fiberglass Freaks has an extensively long list of work to do for fulfilling this dream, including changing door hinges, changing out the underside trunk lid, remodelling the rear bumper, developing the pinched beauty line on the front fender, and cutting the body off the floor pan for removing a 3-inch flare curvature so the chrome side trim is correctly shaped. Many more exterior alternation aside, there are also plenty of interior conversions including slider knob panels functional gauges.

It is not sure when the project will be completed, but executives at Ford have already shown interest in taking the accurately built replica for a potential world tour.
