Doodling in life-size
Nissan Qashqai 3D pen sculpture
3D pens nowadays bring kids a lot of fun during their art lessons as it is a ‘draw as you like” tool. The same technology, though, can also be used to create something both stunningly artistic and tremendously accomplished. Nissan has teamed with a group of artists to create the world’s largest sculpture using 3Doodler 3D pen technology. The creative crew has drawn a remarkable life-size model of the new Qashqai Black Edition to celebrate its launch.
The 3Doodler 3D pen works by heating solid plastic to 230°C and forcing it through a nozzle just 0.7 mm wide as it cools. The life-sized Qashqai Black Edition is made up of 13.8 km of plastic strands, taking the team 800 man-hours over three weeks to finish. Measuring 4.4 metres long and 1.6 metres high, the sculpture is the same size as the actual car, with the stylish features of the Qashqai Black Edition, such as the 19-inch black alloy wheels and front and rear styling features, all skilfully represented.
