Disguised Retro Vette
2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 AAT Conversion

The retro looking Chevrolet Corvette you see in the photos can be easily mistaken for an authentic vintage. This sophisticated built by Michigan-based Advanced Advanced Automotive Technologies (AAT) has exceeded all expectation.

The original is a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5 , specifically the Z06, and was later given a new life – restyled as the very first model of the series from 1953. The fibreglass panels were replaced with the retro body style and the grille is completely different and more prominent. While the retro headlights and the round small lights at the back are reminiscent of the model’s root. Perhaps the most giving change is the shining sidebars. The overall built focused on styling upgrade and structural change is minimal. The example was formerly part of the Ken Lingenfelter collection and the LS6 engine was modified by John Lingenfelter.

It is unclear how many 1953 commemorative Corvettes were made — some said around 200 examples, but this particular example is the one of the six converted by ATT. It will go under the hammer on 10 January in the Mecum’s Kissimmee auction.
