Sometimes, you may want a certain piece of furniture at home but are refraining from buying it because of its appearance. The humble rocking chair is one of those items that is cool in its function but not so cool in its looks. Based in Texas, Austin, artist and designer Brandon Mike has used a minimalist approach to develop a rocking lounge chair named Poise, and it looks like a fine piece of sculpture.

The aptly named furniture explains itself clearly. The rocking chair is shaped in a simple circular geometry that provides stable and well-balanced rocking motions in an elegant presence. The designer has mastered the product engineering effectively to achieve the result, with rubber tracks fitted to the bottom stays that offer scratch free rocking and bumpers on each end to stop you getting carried away with the rocking and ending up in a pile on the floor. Poise is crafted in obsidian-infused concrete, an innovative mixture of two materials that provides a unique, dark finish of the chair.
