Commuting Future
Concept Cars at 2017 CES

Each year, the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is the epicentre of promising new technologies. As well as displaying the electronic industry’s latest innovations and trends, it also provides a glimpse into the future-thinking of the automobile industry.

At the upcoming 2017 CES in early January, Honda will present its latest automated EV commuter vehicle concept; the NeuV, featuring its “Emotion Engine” artificial intelligence (AI) system. Honda believes it can offer new possibilities for human interaction, and at the same time demonstrate the automaker’s future technology path of reducing traffic congestion and creating new modes of in-car connectivity.

Swiss manufacturer Rinspeed will also debut its new Oasis self-driving car, the company’s take on the shared vehicle concept. The Oasis concept is a rolling office that allows the owner to share commuting with others who need a ride. The owner can choose among potential passengers through an innovative app from MHP. Its cabin features two armchairs, a sideboard, TV, virtual and augmented reality 5K widescreen and a multifunction steering wheel that transforms into a keyboard or work surface. There’s even space to grow flowers right under the windscreen. The owner can control the car’s functions from his home’s Harman Cloud Platform, and the Oasis’ WayRay 5K display uses holographic laser projection technology, which is significantly larger than conventional head-up displays.
