Commemorating the Spitfire
V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80

Aston Martin recently announced a limited edition model in celebration of one of the most significant aircraft in British history – the 80th anniversary of the Supermarine Spitfire.

Named the V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80, it is presented in “Duxford Green” in honour of Duxford airbase where the first Spitfire squadron was stationed. The iconic green colour features contrasting yellow stripes (and accents) part of the traditional Spitfire livery found on the fuselage and wings. Duxford Aircraft Restoration Company has a significant role in fashioning many of the handmade components of this limited edition, like the rainbow ‘bloom’ effect to match the Spitfire’s exhaust tips and an aluminum bar inside the cabin inspired by the Spitfire’s rear strut brace.

Regarding the interior treatment, Aston Martin’s “Q” Division has included significant historic details such as the Spitfire-inspired red webbing on the door inserts and pulls, the embroidered “Spitfire 80” logos on the headrests, and the tradition RAF roundel insignia integrated into the dashboard.

The delivery of the car will be at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, where you will complete the experience by meeting a veteran Spitfire pilot, drive an armoured vehicle, and have a private viewing of a battle-hardened first generation Spitfire. The specs of the Spitfire 80 match the current V12 Vantage S, with 0-60 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and a 330 km/h top speed, but the price of the limited edition is £40,000 higher than the standard version’s £180,000. A percentage of that additional cost will be donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
