McLaren P1 GTR in Senna's MP4/4 livery

It’s been 30 years since the legendary Ayrton Senna claimed his first Formula 1 world championship and to commemorate the anniversary, a devoted Senna fan and McLaren collector has commissioned the brand’s Special Operations division for a unique P1 GTR custom specification.

Christened ‘Beco’ by the owner – the nickname given to Senna by his parents – this special P1 GTR took three years to complete, with the distinctive paintwork alone taking up 800 hours to finish. With Senna’s 1988 race number on the nose, the one-off P1 GTR is dressed in McLaren Rocket Red and Anniversary White that echo the Marlboro livery of Senna’s MP4/4 Formula 1 steed. Other detailing includes Senna’s hallmark Brazilian flag and the ‘Driven to Perfection’ slogan adorning various parts of the exterior. With more Senna logos inside, the sill is adorned with one of his greatest quotes: “I am not designed to finish 2nd or 3rd… I am designed to win”.

The owner has also opted for a full aerodynamic upgrade, including new front dive planes, a wider front splitter, gurney flap and new barge boards which channel the airflow more efficiently, in addition to a new rear wing with bigger endplates giving the downforce an incredible 800 kg boost in total. Additionally, this special car has a unique engine specification with a 24ct gold heatshield, Lexan rear cover and modified engine bay shrouds, which offer a ‘suitably pleasing’ increase in power – according to the owner.

We’re not sure if one can wish for a better Christmas present than this.
