Celebrating The Racing Spirit
“Heroes of Bavaria – 75 Years of BMW Motorsports” exhibition

We often see innovative or creative projects getting backers on crowdfunding platforms, but this project is slightly different. LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) in Tacoma, Washington has successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign to bring the BMW Car Club of America Foundation’s “Heroes of Bavaria – 75 Years of BMW Motorsports” exhibition to the museum.

Although it may not necessarily be the most extensive collection, the selection of seventeen iconic BMW racing cars is very impressive, with the oldest being the 1937 BMW 328 Roadster. The two-litre 328 could be said as one of the most successful sports cars of the 1930s, and achieved a class win in the significant Mille Miglia in 1938 and an overall victory in 1940.

All the race cars are from private collectors and BMW North America. Other noteworthy vehicles include the very first 1961 700 RS, a one-off 1972 3.0 CSL Group 2 Rally Car and a 2000 BMW / Williams Formula F1 driven by Ralf Schumacher. The exhibition is happening now and will be on display for a year.
