Celebrating A New Era
F1 Held "F1 Live" in the heart of London

Formula 1 celebrated F1 Live London, a spectacular show in the heart of the British capital on 12 July. The event saw Formula 1 teams, drivers and cars, alongside a host of stars and headline music acts toast a new F1 era that aims to bring the fans closer to the world’s most exhilarating sport.

The event consisted of two parts – an F1 Schools and Innovation Showcase in the afternoon and the F1 Live London Show and Parade in the evening.

There are 40,000 UK-based engineers currently working in Formula 1. The F1 Schools and Innovation Showcase looks to expand this number by providing a broad outline of the exciting opportunities and careers open to children of all ages interested in being the next generation of leaders in the sport. Moreover, it helps children of all ages, young adults, teachers and parents to learn about careers linked to Formula 1 and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

The evening’s F1 Live London Show and Parade held in Trafalgar Square was the biggest live show in its history. There were appearances by both new Formula 1 stars and legends such as Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen, as well as some celebrity guests including supermodel Naomi Campbell and girl group Little Mix. Meanwhile, the Ferrari SF15-T, Red Bull RB7, Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid, Williams FW36 and many more cars were displayed outside the National Gallery while others formed a spectacular moving performance, going from Whitehall up to Trafalgar Square and back again.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “F1 Live London is a brilliant opportunity to show young people in our city that learning about science and engineering can provide them with fantastic careers, and can be great fun. It will also bring fans of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate a sport they are passionate about and in which Britain is a world leader.”
