Camera Without A Display
Pixii digital rangefinder camera

Developed by French startup, Pixii is an amazing digital rangefinder camera since it does not has a screen but relies on the connected smartphone for image viewing, plus, it is compatible with Leica M-mount lenses. The team certainly has come up with a unique concept.

As creator David Barth explained, “The digital camera hasn’t changed much since the 90s. But now the new generation is learning photography with a smartphone: who understands why a camera still needs to bother with a screen or an SD card?” Indeed, you won’t find either of them on Pixii. The camera itself is equipped with 8GB or 32GB internal storage and the images are pushed to the smartphone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Pixii focuses on the image quality and it can shoot in raw. The M-mount lenses compatibility just illustrates how serious the team has envisioned about this rangefinder camera. Other features include a 0.67x optical viewfinder with backlit LED frame lines, 12-bit sampling rate, ISO range of 100-6400, high dynamic range and more. Pixii has yet to announced the resolution or sensor size but more details can be expected later this year.
