Oakley × Martin Jetpack Golf Cart

To celebrate the return of golf tournaments for the 2016 Olympic Games, sports brand Oakley and Martin Aircraft Company have partnered to develop a personalised hovercraft that could replace a traditional golf cart. The BW-Air Golf Jetpack is not only named after golfer Bubba Watson, but he also tested the concept at tNew Zealand’s Methven Golf Course, where a promotional clip was produced.

The BW-Air Jetpack is powered by two 210 horsepower engines which drive two ducted fans that provide the lift enabling the Jetpack to fly. The Jetpack can climb to 3,000 feet, and with a full fuel tank, it can fly continuously for 30km.  Besides a golfer, the Jetpack has space for every piece of equipment needed for a championship  including  reserved space for additional clubs, shoes and other essential equipment. The BW-Air Golf Jetpack has applied for a license from the US Federal Aviation Administration and is currently open for order. Priced at USD$200, 000, its delivery will start in December 2017. Per requirements, a golfer who utilises a BW-Air Jetpack must obtain a pilot’s license, and pass a specific number of flight training hours.
