Built With A Dream
2011 Ferrari SP30

Ferrari’s Special Projects division was formed in 2008 and its sole purpose is to serve the automakers most precious VIPs. Ever since its existence, the division has developed around 40 one-off cars thus far, with some one-off cars that was never announced to the public. Under the program, customers can get a little creative with their imagination under one condition – that the design is based on a current production chassis, drivetrain and certain details of the selected model must be retained. For the very first time, one of these Special Projects cars are heading off for auction.

The 2011 Ferrari SP30 with chassis no. 188026 was believed to be commissioned by Indian entrepreneur and avid Ferrari collector Cheerag Arya. Based on the 599 GTO chassis and drivetrain, the bodywork features rear winglets and speedster humps at the rear just like the track-only 599XX. The headlights are from 458 Italia but the 599 tail lights remain. Interestingly, some styling cues such as the scalloped bonnet has inspired the F12tdf released after this bespoke model. With just less than 110 km on the meter, the SP30 rarely seen on the open road.

SP30 will be offered by RM Sotheby’s in their Paris sale set for 6 February. The auction house have not revealed the estimate price and it is only available upon request.
