Build Your Own Ride
Infento modular electric vehicle kits

Building with motorised brick sets such as LEGO Technic is a fun and satisfying pastime. It’s a great way to teach kids about mechanics and let their imaginations run wild, but it would be even more satisfying if you could ride on what you built. A few years ago, Infento released modular vehicle kits targeted to 0–14 year olds. Now the company has developed new kits that come with an electric motor, meaning kids can build their own e-vehicles.

As with the first-generation kits, each new kit contains components that can be built into different rides, with the most comprehensive one capable of building 32 variants, from toddler ride and tricycle to bicycle, scooter and more. When children get older or bored with the current ride, simply dismantle it and reconfigure it into a new form. In addition to the usual pedals, the electric motor in selected kits can power the vehicle up to 5km/h or 11km/h. The new versions also include updates such as swivelling wheels for drifting and a stabiliser system. A few of these rides support a rider’s weight of up to 70kg so it is suitable for some adults too. The modular kits are now taking backers on Kickstarter.
