Build Rome In One Day
LEGO Colosseum Set

With 7,541 pieces, the Star Wars Millennium Falcon set has been the largest LEGO brick set for the past two years, but now that title has been taken by a new brick version of Rome’s most iconic landmark – the Colosseum.

The epic LEGO Colosseum 10276 set has been expertly designed to recreate the awe-inspiring architecture of the original Roman amphitheatre. Consisting of a whopping 9,036 pieces, the model features three storeys of the Colosseum decorated with columns of the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian order. While no new piece was specially created for this set, the different columns come to life via various creative building techniques. For example, the roller skate element of the LEGO Minifigures has been recoloured and turned upside down to be used as the decorative volutes. Other historic architectural details such as the surviving archways, as well as the ancient walkways with travertine paving stones and olive trees have all been faithfully recreated. Even the hypogeum – the elaborate structure beneath the floor of the arena – is included in the set.

The finished model measures over 10.5” high, 20.5” wide and 23.5” deep, and sits on an oval display base so that it can be appreciated from every angle. The set also includes coffee-table-style building instructions detailing the impressive history and design of this Wonder of the World.

The LEGO Colosseum set is priced at US$549.99 and is set to launch on 27 November online and in LEGO stores.
