LEGO releasing iconic sports car model kits is nothing new — we’ve seen plenty of stunning miniatures from the famous Danish toy manufacturer over the last few years, but having one single kit that allows for the building of two different models is something of a novelty. LEGO has just announced a two-in-one Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa set, and it allows enthusiasts to create these two automotive icons from the 1970s and 80s using the same bricks inside the box.

With 1,458 pieces, owners can choose to build either the Turbo “Widowmaker” 930, or the iconic Targa model from the LEGO Porsche (10295) model kit. Both the integrated rear spoiler of the Turbo and the Targa’s fully removable roof are authentically represented, and each model gets its own badging at the rear too. Switching between the two models is not as difficult as one may think, as both versions feature the same front end and interior, including 2+2 sports seats, a dashboard finished in dark orange and nougat, as well as a handbrake, gearshifter, and functional steering. The completed model car is around 10 cm high, 35 cm long, and 16 cm wide.

Priced at US$ 149.99, the LEGO Porsche 911 set will be available to VIPs on lego.com starting from 16 February, and to the public on the website and in LEGO stores from 1 March. Those who purchase online via the free VIP programme have a chance of receiving a limited-edition pack containing a certificate of ownership, a card wallet, plus four unique advert-styled art prints.
