Breaking The 300 mph Mark
Koenigsegg Jesko

Koenigsegg is the current holder of production car speed record with Agera RS sprinting at 447.19 km/h, but they are prepared to set the benchmark higher with Koenigsegg Jesko which is named after founder Christian von Koenigsegg’s father.

Jesko is powered by the re-designed 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine now produces 1,280 hp on standard gasoline and 1,600 hp on E85 biofuel. The upgraded engine features the world’s lightest V8 crankshaft weighing just 12.5 kg, which helps in achieving a higher rev limit at 8,500 rpm while peak torque 1,500 Nm is available at 5,100 rpm. The engine is unique enough for Koenigsegg to design a dedicated 9-speed multi-clutch gearbox Light Speed Transmission, which allows driver to change to the optimal gear for acceleration regardless of the current gear and without waiting for synchronisation.

The exterior of Jesko is inspired by its predecessor Agera RS but there’s more downforce from the new car. The advanced aerodynamics including active flaps at the front of the underbody and self-adjusting wing at the back offers over 1,000 kg of downforce. The automaker hasn’t unveiled the top speed of the car we saw on Geneva Motor Show, but in the launch event founder Christian von Koenigsegg mentioned there will be a road-legal variant Jesko 300 coming soon. The variant will focus less on downforce but more on top speed and will break the 300 mph barrier.

Jesko will be limited to 125 examples and produced at a rate of 40 to 50 cars per year. Each will cost 2.7 million euros.
