Born to Paint
Belgium street artist Joachim opens first solo show in London

Belgium street artist Joachim has opened his debut solo show “Born to Paint” at The Old Truman Brewery in London.

Joachim has painted and drawn for as long as he can remember. At the age of 6, he saw an old-school graffiti piece in his home city Antwerp, and from then on, he envisaged a future for himself as an artist.

“Every second of the day I’m creating art, even if I’m not doing it … I dream about it!” says Joachim. “You could even say that other commitments, such as buying food or paying bills, things that other people find normal, slow me down… if it were up to me I would never eat again… art is what I was born to do!”

His unique graffiti pop-style is impossible to ignore. He is well known for his childlike spontaneity, as well as being willing to experiment with a wide range of styles. Complicated compositions and playful use of colours flow throughout the artist’s body of work. With multiple street art murals to his name, sell out prints and shows across Europe, Joachim has become a seasoned artist within the urban art scene, and has managed to conquer a place of his own.

Curated by GraffitiStreet, the exhibition showcases Joachim’s latest works on canvas, and some unique installations, including a pink MINI, paved with the artist’s signature graffiti.

“Born to Paint” will run through Saturday 11 March 2018.
