Born To Be Wild
Snakeskin Wrap by Garage Italia Customs

The popularity of automotive “skin” customisation has grown exponentially in popularity and has even evolved into different styles, such as peelable paint or colour-changing graffiti. However, before you think that skins are too mainstream, along comes a design that, trust me, is something you have never seen before.

Lapo Elkann, the founder of Garage Italia Customs, has helped design the snakeskin variants of the X15 and Ace 16 football shoes, included in the Deadly Focus Pack as part of Adidas’ Limited Collection range as well as collaborated with fashion company Italia Independent. He decided to try the same reptilian wrap design on an automobile and chose the Alfa Romeo 4C as his canvas.

The 4C is an extreme track car for the street, featuring a composite carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, and a 1.75-liter turbo-four with 237 horsepower matched with a rapid twin-clutch transmission inside. The snakeskin wrap is all about setting new boundaries for car skin customisation possibilities and with Elkann’s treatment of the 4C with a whole new look and style you can feel the emphasis of each element’s wildness with this new skin style.
