Dutch automaker Donkervoort may not be a household name, but the brand does has its fair share of loyal customers and a track record of over 40 years. With founder Joop Donkervoort celebrating his birthday this month, the D8 GTO-JD70 is released as a gift to himself.

Taking the basis of the standard D8 GTO first launch in 2016, the special edition will be fitted with an optimised Audi Sport 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged. Performance figures will be released later towards its formal reveal next year, but the base model can sprint to 100 km/h in less than three seconds and the D8 GTO-JD70 should only be the same or even faster.

The car will weigh less than 700 kg thanks to its unique and lightweight EX-CORE carbon-fibre technology and will be good for both open road and track. The pricing for D8 GTO-JD70 starts at €163,636, the production run is limited to 70 examples and deliveries will run across 2020 and 2021.
