2018 Drone Awards photo contest

With the rise in popularity of drones, these little machines are not just used for practical purposes such as mapping, but are now viewed as a tool to express one’s creativity. The results of the 2018 Drone Awards photo contest were recently announced, with over 4,400 submissions from 101 countries.

The Photo of the Year award goes to “Above The Polar Bear” by Florian Ledoux, who captured the moment of a polar bear climbing from a thin piece of ice to another, with its body becoming bridge-like and connecting the two. Winners were also selected from each of the six categories: abstract, nature, people, sport, wildlife and urban. These award-winning photos will be exhibited in the collective photo exhibition “Sky is the Limit” held Siena in October and November. For now, just visit the awards’ website and take a look at the runner ups and other selected images.
