Mercedes-Benz SSKL driving premiere at Pebble Beach

The recreated 1932 Mercedes-Benz SSKL was seen as a static display last month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now it’s ready to make it’s dynamic debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2019.

As part of the event under the “125 Years of Motorsport” anniversary, the streamlined racing car truthfully reconstructed based on historical documents will be running in front of the public for the first time during the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance. The route partially follows the scenic 17-Mile Drive along the picturesque coastal line of the peninsula of Monterey. The original car entered into the international Avus race in Berlin in May 1932 and was described as “silver arrow” in a radio report.

A Mercedes-Benz 320 n combination coupé (W 142) from 1938 will also be taking part in the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance. Both rare models will also be presented as an exhibition in the Star Lounge, alongside a 1939 3-litre W 154 Formula racing car, a Mercedes-Simplex 40 hp from 1903, and a Daimler two-cylinder V-engine that signifies the beginning of the marque’s racing history starting from 1894. This year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance kicks off on 15 August and runs until 18 August.
