Audi Sedan Goes Electric
Schaeffler 4ePerformance concept

Formula E enthusiasts will recognise the name Schaeffler, a leading supplier of automotive and engineering parts, and the major sponsor of the Audi Sport ABT team. The company just launched a concept based on the Audi RS3 sedan to demonstrate how Formula E technologies can improve a passenger car.

Dubbed the 4ePerformance concept, Schaeffler has packed the powertrain of the FE01 Formula E race car inside the Audi RS3. With four electric motors each supporting a wheel and generating a total of 1200 hp of output, the concept can accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in less than 7 seconds. Additionally, on the front and rear axles, there is a gearbox between the electric motors of each axle that allows torque vectoring, i.e. selective control of drive torque to individual wheels. The concept is powered by two batteries with a total capacity of 64 kWh. The exterior of the 4ePerformance is more aggressive than the stock Audi RS3 too, with a different fascia and wheel arch design.
