Assembly Manual in Augmented Reality
IKEA Assembly Manual Concept App "AssembleAR" by Adam Pickard

A few months ago, IKEA introduced an AR app called “IKEA Place”. It is built on Apple’s new ARKit technology, which allows customers to virtually “place” IKEA products in their space, making it easy for people to see what that new sofa will look like in their home, and if it fits with their wallpaper or other furniture. So people can buy something new for their home, knowing in advance that it will look great, and save a lot of guesswork.

Inspired by that idea, designer Adam Pickard has developed a new app called “AssembleAR”; using the same Augmented Reality technology to display IKEA’s notorious assembly manuals virtually, which makes it easier for people to assemble and install their furniture, and also cuts down print costs. Although the app is only a concept, it has a whole lot of potential.
