Ferrari awarded International Engine of the Year again

The International Engine of the Year Awards are presented by Engine Technology International magazine and are decided by a panel of 58 motoring journalists from 31 countries. The result was just announced for this year and the 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 powering the Ferrari 488 GTB and 488 Spider and in smaller capacity the California T and GTC4Lusso T just won the key title for the second consecutive time. With today’s rapid rate of technology advancement, it is quite an achievement to stay at the top twice in a row. Only four engines have managed this in the history of the awards.

The Ferrari V8 also scooped the top prizes of the Performance Engine class and the 3-litre to 4-litre displacement category, while the naturally-aspirated 6.3-litre V12 powering the F12berlinetta and F12tdf received the above 4-litre award, again for the second time.

Other winners include Honda’s 3.5-litre V6 hybrid in the NSX for Best New Engine and Tesla for Best Green Engine.
