Art As Formula 1
BMW Art Cars as F1 racers

The BMW Art Car Project was introduced by the French racecar driver and auctioneer Hervé Poulain, who wanted to invite an artist to use an automobile as a canvas. The first Art Car was painted by American artist Alexander Calder on a BMW 3.0 CSL, which Poulain himself would race in the 1975 Le Mans endurance race. Since then, the German automaker has enlisted some of the greatest artists from across the globe to participate the art program, including Andy Warhol, David Hockney and Jeff Koons. So far, there 18 Art Cars have been created.

British designer Sean Bull has reimagined some of the past BMW Art Car designs on F1 racers. And we think they look as good as the originals. Check out the gallery above as well as his Behance page for more.
