“Kepler-452b” on the Wrist
Anicorn "Series K452" Watches

Following the success of the first campaign for the “Series 000” in 2014, Hong Kong-based independent watchmaker Anicorn has recently announced another crowdfunding project on Kickstarter for their latest watches.

Titled “The Series K452”, the creative duo of Joe Kwan and Chris Chan has decided to take inspiration from the revolutionary discovery of Kepler-452b, an exoplanet discovered by NASA last July which is the sixth-most Earth-like exoplanet known to date, the Series K452 features a disc system that contains a 3-layer surface from inner to outer discs, which indicated seconds, minutes and hours respectively in paying homage to German mathematician Johannes Kepler for his discovery of the mechanics of orbital movements in the early 1600s. Besides, the watch is powered by an automatic Miyota caliber 9015, which is known as one of the highest quality automatic movement motors; it requires no battery and will wind itself automatically as the wearer moves the wrist naturally.

Each Series K452 comes with a Milanese mesh bracelet as well as an additional leather straps with 3 planet buttons in red, yellow and blue to indicate the other members of the discovered planets in the Kepler’s neighborhood: Kepler-20e, Kepler-186f and Kepler-452b.

The watches will come in four different colourways, in which the “Interstellar” colourway is exclusively made for the Kickstarter campaign. If the campaign is successfully funded, the watches will begin production in March in Hong Kong and expected to ship in July this year. Head over to Kickstarter for more details.
