Anicorn—Series 000
The Hong Kong-based Watchmaker Debuts Its First Timepiece

Anicorn is a Hong Kong-based watchmaker founded by Joe Kwan and Chris Chan in 2013, and their debut timepieces “Series 000” is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign that they launched at the end of last year. It received $53,447 CAD from 200 backers in less than 5 days, what’s more, it was selected as “Staff Pick” on the crowdfunding platform, the only selected watches project in Asia. It is undoubted that the campaign has given the designers a shot in the arm to create more affordable watches with meticulous detailing.

The “Series 000” utilizes an unique new time display system which hours, minutes and seconds are indicated on 3 independent concentric discs respectively. As the designers believe that a good typeface will serve the best to deliver the message of time, they used a typeface called “Grow” in the watch that is designed by the Swiss type specialist Dinamo, so as to add a contemporary touch to the watch and also convey the distinct persona of the brand. Furthermore, the watch employs a Miyota 8215 automatic movement which is environmentally friendly, as it requires no battery, the mainspring is wound automatically as a result of natural motion of the wearer’s arm.

The watches are now available in selected stockists worldwide with prices starting at $325 USD.  Head over to Anicorn’s website for more details.
