Almost A Century Of Winners
Take a glance at all the Le Mans winning cars

The 24 Hours of Le Mans happens on the Circuit de la Sarthe every year except during WWII since 1923. This demanding and enduring race is also the oldest active motorsport. The team at Budget Direct Car Insurance has spent some time in sketching every single winning car in Le Mans and putting them in chronological order for a short video.

Rarely we are able to see the transformation of endurance race cars spanning from almost a century, from the very first 1923 Chenard & Walker Sport, the first post-war winner 1949 Ferrari 166MM to the most recent Toyota TS050 Hybrid this year.

An interesting fact: All race cars from the beginning of Le Mans to 1964 were open except the 1952 Mercedes 300 SL, and the trophy mostly went to European manufacturers except Ford in the late 1960s, Mazda in 1991 with its rotary engine and Toyota this year.

Watch the video below to appreciate these beautiful silhouettes and try to work out more racing logics and statistics.
