The Pirelli Calendar ranks as one of the world’s most famous calendars. Ever since its launch in 1963 by the Pirelli company’s UK subsidiary, the Pirelli Calendar has held iconic status in the fashion industry.

The 2018 edition marks the 45th anniversary of the Pirelli Calendar, and the Italian tire manufacturer has teamed up with renowned British photographer Tim Walker and British Vogue’s newly appointed editor Edward Enninful for something truly unexpected. The team brought together an esteemed all-black cast to produce a re-imagining of mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson’s 1865 fantasy novel written under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Among the black actors, models, musicians, and designers photographed in London were Naomi Campbell, Whoopi Goldberg, RuPaul, Lupita Nyong’o, Djimon Hounsou, Puff Daddy, Lil Yachty, and Adwoa Aboah. Also joining the cast were Sasha Lane, Duckie Thot, Thando Hopa, Slick Woods, Zoe Bedeaux, Alpha Dia, Jaha Dukureh, King Owusu, Wilson Oryema and Adut Akech.
