A Track-Only Return
Brabham BT62

Since the brand’s revival was announced in February, we have been eager to see what Brabham would bring to the world as its first production model. The BT62, a powerful track-only supercar, has just been unveiled in London.

BT62 is for serious racers only. The aerodynamic body is entirely forged from carbon fibre and the car just weighs 972 kg. The front splitter, large diffuser and the striking rear wing add up to produce 1,200 kg of downforce. The BT62 features a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 5.4-litre V8 that generates 700 hp and 667 Nm and is paired with a six-speed Holinger sequential transmission.  It’s not one of the most powerful engines these days but bear in mind the race car is well under 1,000 kg. The interior is typically minimal, decorated with Alcantara and includes just two racing seats, digital displays, a carbon fibre racing wheel, switches and the roll cage.

Only 70 examples will be built for this £1 million race car, with the first 35 cars having Jack Brabham’s winning liveries to celebrate the 35 wins the legend achieved .
