A Track-Focused Pro
Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO

Mercedes has just debuted the track-focused Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO at the LA Auto Show. The limited edition car is the top-of-the-range model of the updated AMG GT range, and is the vehicle that stays the closest to motor racing out of the whole Mercedes-AMG family thanks to the reference on the marque’s current GT3 and GT4 experience.

While the engine is same as the standard GT R’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, it now produces 575 hp and 700 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h is now 3.6 seconds and the top speed reaches 318 km/h. The suspension, lightweight construction, aerodynamics and looks have all been updated. Starting from the appearance, the front fascia now features expanded front splitter, additional canards and vented fenders that all made with carbon-fibre and help with front downforce. The redesigned carbon-fibre roof has a lowered centre, and the large carbon rear spoiler that raises the rear downforce.

The new AMG coil-over suspension setup includes manually adjustable dampers, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, and spherical bearings for the rear axle’s lower and upper wishbones. Additionally, the lightweight ceramic brakes, bucket seats and wheels all contributed to the driving dynamics and speed. The GT R PRO will be limited to 750 examples only.
