A Tough Mash-Up
Honda Rugged Open Air Vehicle Concept

Honda unveil a concept car at the 2018 SEMA show in Las Vegas  that combines elements of two very different production vehicles. Based on Ridgeline pickup and Pioneer 1000 side-by-side, the Rugged Open Air Vehicle concept is created for the ultimate open-air off-road adventure.

The concept car uses existing Honda components, taking the utility of the Ridgeline and combining it with the extreme off road styling from the Pioneer 1000. The body and suspension was taken from Ridgeline, while the doors, designed bed and tailgate panels were modified after the pioneer. Inside, the Pioneer steering wheel is fitted on the Ridgeline steering column, and durable paint-on surfaces is also used to protect the exposed instrument panel. Additionally, the Civic Type R seats can be found on board, but are now skinned in waterproof Pioneer 1000 material. All in all, Honda has proved that you don’t new brand new elements to show your creativity.
