This isn’t the first time that Samsung has collaborated with a fashion label, having previously worked with Thom Browne to create special edition smartphones and watches, but the new Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela Edition still comes as a nice surprise.
While the technical specifications remain the same as the standard Galaxy Z Flip4 that has been on the market for some time, thanks to Maison Margiela, the aesthetics are markedly different. The fashion brand’s signature white shade is mimicked in matte on the exterior of the phone, and its signature décortiqué technique (stripping the outer layers of an object to show its underpinnings) has also been embodied through the translucent lines demonstrating the internal circuits of the folded phone.
The special edition phone also comes with two cases that push the fashion brand’s aesthetics even further. The first is a leather cover that uses the house’s iconic ‘bianchetto‘ technique that allows the cover to evolve and wear over time, and features the four stitches emblem found on many Mariegla pieces. The second cover is once again decorated with the four stitches, and also has a ring with the brand’s numerical coding, indicating the collaborative phone is under Line 11 — a collection of accessories for women and men. The UX design of the phone is brand new too, with wallpaper artwork and icons specially designed for this model.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Mariegla Edition will be launched in Hong Kong, France, and Korea on December 1st.
