A New Benchmark

Ferrari has unveiled the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid berlinetta that succeeds the SF90 Stradale and redefines Maranello’s V8 platform. Reviving one of Ferrari’s most storied names, it blends heritage with cutting-edge technology aimed squarely at the future.

At its heart is a re-engineered 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 819 hp, paired with three electric motors for a combined 1,036 hp — 50 hp more than the SF90. Performance figures are staggering; top speed exceeds 330 km/h, 0–100 km/h takes under 2.3 seconds, and 200 km/h arrives in just 6.35 seconds. A new, larger turbocharger — the biggest ever fitted to a Ferrari road car — underpins this explosive acceleration, while the hybrid system’s 217 hp contribution is delivered through an on-demand four-wheel-drive setup with torque vectoring.

Aerodynamics have been refined to maximise cooling and downforce, drawing inspiration from icons such as the 512 S, 512 M, and FXX-K. The 849 Testarossa generates 415 kg of load at 250 km/h — 25 kg more than the SF90 Stradale — with cooling efficiency up 15%. Enlarged vortex generators, a wider front splitter and sculpted intakes feed radiators, brakes, and intercoolers, while at the rear, a twin-tail design and active spoiler add up to 100 kg of extra downforce. A multi-level diffuser and further vortex generators enhance stability while reducing drag.

Inside, the cabin is both immersive and ergonomic. Highlights include a central sail motif with integrated gear gate, a newly designed steering wheel with mechanical switchgear, and a simplified HMI system that balances innovation with Ferrari’s trademark driver focus.

For track-focused buyers, the Assetto Fiorano package trims 30 kg using carbon fibre wheels, titanium components, and lightweight Alcantara-trimmed seats. Enlarged flicks, additional vortex generators, and dramatic twin rear wings triple downforce without increasing drag, while Multimatic dampers, lighter springs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres sharpen handling. An exclusive two-tone livery reinforces its racing intent.

Ferrari has also revealed the 849 Testarossa Spider, which delivers the same blistering performance with open-air drama. Its retractable hard top folds away in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h, allowing drivers to experience all 1,036 hp in the open air. Weighing just 90 kg more than the coupé yet retaining identical control systems, it sets a new benchmark for open-top supercars.
