A New Battle Royale
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

First launched in 2003, the Call of Duty is now on its 15th main installment with the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For a series with such long history it is almost necessary to include some major change in the gameplay, and developer Treyarch and publisher Activision have made a bold move of dropping the traditional single-player mode, at all. The only time gamers can go for solo mission is just for playing on the backstories of the game’s multiplayer characters i.e. the “Specialists”, yet this type of gameplay is almost like a training mode for the skills and does not bring forward the current story.

While some people may be put off by the lack of single-player mode, the gameplay in the three modes should be attractive enough for giving the game a try. In “Multiplayer” mode, there is another novelty of removing automatic health regeneration. The manual healing system and the increased weapon customisation options are giving gamers a more comprehensive control over the characters.

“Zombies” once again appears in the series and this time there are two separate storylines and involving three interesting maps, namely RMS Titanic, Ancient Rome and Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. For fans of zombie games this should have done the job well, but the highlight of Black Ops 4 would probably the newly introduced, royal battle-styled “Blackout” mode. Across the largest ever map in the series’ history and with different vehicles including ATV and helicopter as support, up to 100 players are forming team of one, two or four persons, and kill to become the last to survive.
