Jaden Smith teamed up with New Balance to bring us the exceptional Vision Racer sneaker last month, and now the pair is back with a new white, navy, and yellow colourway to follow up the Wave Baby Blue debut.
The young performer is not only known for his music, acting, and celebrity family connections but also for his unique personal style and fashion sense. For this collaboration, Smith has selected two of his favourite New Balance sneakers – the New Balance 1700 and the X-Racer – and has added his own references to make a bold statement. The EVA midsole is separated into three rectangular blocks and stands out for its exaggeratedly chunky style. Under the translucent outsole hides the eye-catching “((VISION))” detailing in bright pink, featuring the same font used on Jaden’s album covers.
Colourwise, the new instalment of the Vision Racer is mainly white with navy accents and a grey “N” logo, while bright yellow piping above the midsole repeats throughout. It also focuses on sustainability by being vegan-friendly, with synthetic leather used instead of traditional leather and 60% of the thin polyester base having been recycled. The upper textile, upper lining, and tongue textile are also made of 100% recycled polyester, while other foam and rubber parts are made using post-production leftovers.
The new Vision Racer drops on 28 August at the New Balance webstore and selected retailers in Hong Kong.
