A Car That Cares About You
The Volvo Care Concept by Maximilian Troicher

With the public more concerned than ever about their health, various car companies are starting to develop onboard systems that can monitor and improve a passenger’s well-being. Case in point is Hyundai, which introduced a ‘Health + Mobility Cockpit’ concept earlier this year that monitors an occupant’s health and related indicators to help manage stress and other adverse effects while driving.

Taking inspiration from this, Swedish automotive designer Maximilian Troicher has come up with a concept car for Volvo utilising a similar concept, dubbed the “Volvo Care Concept Car”, a two-door three seat city vehicle that helps Volvo care for its employees by supporting their life on a physical and mental level. The process works by incorporating an employee’s workflow data into the car’s operation so they can fulfil their duties as well as travel and exercise without time pressures, through a complete wellness program tailored for each user.

The Volvo Care Concept Car provides sufficient space for personalising the individual needs of different categories of users, meaning each seat has its specific function, including active driving, physical relaxation and infotainment. The white side surfaces create added visibility for the safety of both passengers and driver with a broad translucent area providing unlimited vision and space for infotainment. Staying true to Volvo’s design language, the concept car has an extended cabin that is visually shortened by the colour split, continuing Volvo’s new long dash to axle ratio in a compact vehicle. Last but not least, the active driving mode from the centre seat allows the user to drive in a leaned forward position similar to a motorcycle, to entirely focus on the road. The centre seat also provides passengers with a mix of sitting options within the car to prevent muscle cramps and foster alertness.

The car of the future won’t just be emissions-free, fully-autonomous and extremely safe. It will also be able to provide customised care of the people onboard.
