A Beautifully Corrugated Surface
Interface Table by Louie Rigano

Within all of the furniture categories, coffee tables are rarely taken as seriously as the dining table or the sofa. Yet, if you own a beautiful coffee table, it not only earns you a better impression when you invite your friends over, it also becomes the decisive item in sculpting your living room. Done correctly, its presence even provides more enjoyment for your tea or coffee break.

Recently, I discovered this coffee table by British designer, Louie Rigano. Called the Interface Table, this short table is made with glass fibre, and has a compartment for storage, allowing you to stuff all your casual readings straight inside. Different from a traditional coffee table, it has incorporated uneven wave patterns on the legs and the surface of the table, making it appear much like the corrugated materials layered on top of a concrete floor. It also comes with a meal tray, which has a corrugated back and a smooth front, to be used with the coffee table.

When you place the tray on top of the coffee table, its surface seamlessly engages the corresponding surface, expressing the designer’s eye for nuance and simplicity. This new experience, which is brought upon by this interesting piece of furniture, truly fulfils both our visual and tactile senses.
