50th Drop-Top Prancing Horse
Ferrari 488 Pista Spider

Ferrari took the opportunity at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to debut the drop-top version of the 488 Pista. The powerful 488 Pista Spider also happens to be the 50th drop-top model from the marque.

Racing spirit is key to the model, with a central livery running through the entire length of thr car to the rear wing and expanding towards the rear, mimicking airflow. The performance of the new car sets a new benchmark for Ferrari Spider variations with its 1.92 kg/cv weight-power ratio, thanks to the 3902cc twin-turbo V8 engine with 720 hp and 770 Nm. While the open top configuration makes the Spider 91 kg heavier then the coupe model, the unique engine sound can now be enjoyed at a whole new level.

To reduce the additional weight, the standard diamond-finish 20” alloy wheels can be replaced by optional one-piece carbon fibre wheels that weight 20% less. The interior is also focused in weight saving, expansively fitted with carbon fibre, alcantara, aluminium foot plates replacing carpets and a minimal driver’s door handle using a simple strap.
