California-based Porsche 911 tuning and restomod specialist Singer Vehicle Design has unveiled the latest chapter in its Turbo Study program, which originally launched in 2022. Turbocharging was first introduced to the road-legal 911 in 1974, and now Singer is adding turbocharged flair to its Type 964 Porsche 911 restoration services, including the rare slantnose coupe, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 911 Turbo.

The “Flachbau” (“flatnose”) design was introduced to road-legal 911s in the 1980s, after gaining popularity in the racing world with the 935 race car. Responding to the success of aftermarket conversions, Porsche offered the style through its special order program, replacing the standard 930’s round headlights with 935-style pop-up headlights and the distinctive slantnose.

In this latest project from Singer, owners can bring in their 964 for a full restoration, featuring carbon fibre bodywork and the iconic pop-up headlights. Powering these restored models is the Mezger 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, capable of delivering 510 hp, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

While the turbocharged coupe, cabriolet, and Targa models can all be personalised with this powerful engine and lightweight carbon fibre bodywork, it’s worth noting that all 25 allocations for the slantnose coupe restorations were claimed before Singer even made the official announcement.
