3D Printed In Full
Hackrod La Bandita

Californian startup Hackrod is bringing the DIY ethos back to automobile manufacturing, this time with the help of some emerging technologies. Partnered with Siemens PLM software, Hackrod has created a La Bandita, a two seat speedster that is fully 3D printed with customer’s bespoke elements incorporated.

The body and cockpit design of the car first went through virtual reality viewing to make sure all the details will come out as desired, and the engineering development was assisted with machine learning AI. The chassis structure was 3D printed in aerospace grade aluminium alloy, and so were the body panels. Although the automaker has not detailed the drivetrain, in the video we see the use of a Tesla battery pack.

As a prototype, Hackrod has created this sleek and silver speedster, though customers will be able to add their input on the car’s design, making each La Bandita highly bespoke and unique. Hackrod seems confident that with the birth of La Bandita it will significantly lower the cost of bespoke vehicles and make them widely available to more people.
